L’inauguration a fait sensation, puisqu’il y a eu une manif pour dénoncer cet hommage à un gars responsable de millions de morts dans le monde à cause de ses prises de position contre l’utilisation du préservatif. Pour la cause, la place a été rebaptisée la place des morts du SIDA.
